Porter Room

The Porter History-Social Science Resource Room provides local area educators access to quality instructional materials that will foster the development of social science skills, including history, geography, economics and political science. The resource room may be used by students who are taking classes at the campus and as a reference library for classroom teachers of the various school districts in the Coachella Valley.

Porter Resource Room enhances the reputation of California State University San Bernardino, Palm Desert Campus as an educational leader in the social science field. Numerous professional development Institute activities are sponsored for local area teachers.


The Priscilla and Charles Porter History-Social Science Resource Room is located in the Indian Wells Center for Educational Excellence Building Room 302 on the Palm Desert Campus of California State University, San Bernardino at 37-500 Cook Street, Palm Desert, California 92211.

About the Porters

Dr. Priscilla H. Porter is Professor Emeritus of California State University, Dominguez Hills. The senior author of Reflections, a Kindergarten to Grade 6 social studies textbook series published by Harcourt School Publishers, Dr. Porter is a recipient of the California Council for the Social Studies prestigious Hilda Taba Award.

Charles Porter is the former president of Dominguez Water Corporation and the founder of Academic WorldQuest, a competition for high school students sponsored by the World Affairs Council of the Desert.
