Student Teaching FAQs

How am I assigned a student teaching placement?

When you complete your application for student teaching, you will indicate three different districts in which you would be willing to do your student teaching.  The student teaching office then contacts those districts on your behalf, asking if they have a highly successful teacher who is willing to serve as your Resident Teacher.   This process can take a number of weeks as we wait for the district office to respond to our request.  You will learn of your placement at the student teaching orientation meeting (typically held on a Saturday).  At this meeting you will be notified of the location of your student teaching and you will meet your university supervisor (the person who will be, in addition to your resident teacher, supporting your success during student teaching).
