POSITION DESCRIPTION: Consolidated Electrical Distributors, a nationwide, wholesale electrical-distributor is seeking to hire Management Trainees in Southern California.  We have locations in Orange County, the Inland Empire, San Diego County, and Los Angeles County. This is a fully-comprehensive position that is designed to give you hands-on experience in the wholesale distribution industry and grow you within CED into a Profit Center General Manager in 2 years.

Ideal candidate has had part-time work experience in high school or college, ideally in a customer-service, sales and business-setting. POSITION DESCRIPTION: Working as Part-Time Sales Support, you must have a strong interest in sales and enjoy working in a fast paced challenging environment. POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under supervision of the Project Director, Lead Program Coordinator, and a business counselor the Small Business Counselor Intern will learn to provide advisory assistance to clients of the Inland Empire and Coachella Valley Women’s Business Centers (IEWBC/CVWBC). IEWBC/CVWBC is a regional leader in business development that counsels and trains existing and start-up small businesses throughout the two-county region.

  • The incumbent will assist in the provision of one-on-one business counseling and assistance to clients in the areas of business planning, operations management, accounting, finance, marketing, human resources, or other area of small business development. Clientele are provided services in English and Spanish as needed.
  • The incumbent may have the opportunity to develop and assist to deliver orientation workshops for prospective and current local small business owners in response to identified needs, demands, and local area economic development.
  • The intern may assist in special projects as determined by the Project Director or Lead Program Coordinator and/or the needs of the small business community.
  • The incumbent will assist with updating client and program records; conduct follow-up activities to facilitate and enhance service delivery and assessment. 
  • The incumbent will perform all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a graduate student - MBA and MSE preferably.  

Experience and Education:

Applicants must have any combination of experience and education that would equal two (2) years of professional experience in small business operation, business, or providing assistance and counseling to small businesses.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Entrepreneurship, Business, Management, Finance, Economics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish is highly desired.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Applicants must have knowledge of financial aspects of business, such as identifying sources of capital, loan analysis or packaging; principles and practices of business management including establishment of a new business; principles and requirements of business law, taxation, and employment regulations; data gathering and report writing; professional standards.
  • Applicants must have the ability to analyze a business; express ideas clearly and effectively in oral and written communications; develop and conduct oral presentations for groups; assist in the review of business plans; work cooperatively with persons from diverse economic and social backgrounds.
  • Applicants must be computer literate and have good typing skills.

PA - Foothill Family Shelter, Volunteer Coordinator Internship

COMPANY OVERVIEW: Foothill Family Shelter is a nonprofit organization founded in 1984 which houses homeless adults and children for a period of up to 120 days, free of rent and utility charges. We also provide one-year transitional housing as well as permanent housing. The Foothill Family Shelter began as St. Mark's Homeless Shelter and currently serves as a transitional facility for homeless adults and children from the west end of San Bernardino County and the east end of Los Angeles County. The Shelter has 7- two bedroom apartments which are fully furnished and offered free for a maximum of 120 days. We also provide 16- two bedroom apartments for transitional housing and 4- two bedroom apartments for affordable permanent housing.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Foothill Family Shelter is a volunteer driven organization. As such the Volunteer Coordinator Intern is an integral team member in the development and success of the branch, as measured by service impact. This is a part-time, unpaid intern position. The volunteer coordinator intern will work with the Volunteer Coordinator to establish strong, reciprocally beneficial connections between members of the community at large and Foothill Family Shelter to help secure volunteers consistently throughout the year. The volunteer coordinator intern will help facilitate the volunteer process by helping recruit, process, and supervise volunteers. This position requires approximately 6-12 hours per week for at least a semester (Spring: January- May, Summer, or Fall: September - December). Benefits of an internship at Foothill Family Shelter: Gain valuable knowledge about the process and structure of a non-profit. Obtain management experience. Enhance communication, critical thinking, organizational, and leadership skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist with outreach and recruitment efforts to members, students, community groups, and other organizations (nonprofit and for-profit). Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to schedule interviews and trainings for volunteers. Update volunteer database and maintaining a volunteer roster. Assist with activities related to volunteer recruitment, training, management and retention including calculating service hours, posting volunteer opportunities, scheduling service opportunities, pairing volunteers according to interest and availability, and coordinating volunteer appreciation events. Sort through clothing and food donations.

QUALIFICATIONS: Student should be enrolled in college and pursuing a degree in social service related field. An interest in non-profit leadership, development, human services and/or youth development. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. A quick learner with ability to thrive in a fast-paced, flexible environment. Strong attention to detail and organization. Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Apps. Ability to solve problems independently and creatively. Previous experience in youth development and/or nonprofit are preferred.

Knowledge of: The goals and functions of the specific profession to which assigned; use of computer hardware and software as needed to accurately perform duties.

Ability to: Take direction and supervision; benefit and learn rapidly from on-the-job training; think logically and write clearly and concisely; compile data, perform arithmetical computations, analyze statistical data and prepare reports; learn to operate and use specialized equipment; maintain cooperative relations with co-workers and the public.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: As an intern you will have the opportunity to observe a non-profit agency, learn issues of homelessness and gain awareness of social services. Now hiring for the "Harold Cares About Your Future, Ask Harold for Help" Program is a 10-week parenting/employment class held on Tuesday evenings from 6:00p-7:30p. Parenting Classes for teen moms between the ages of 14 and 21. Participants receive parenting education and referrals, nutrition and health education, résumé development and substance abuse prevention. Our participants are rewarded for learning with various incentives.
