Using Blackboard Email

This is a step by step guide for students to learn how to email other students within their online class. This guide will give step by step instructions on how to access the class email through Blackboard and how to email the class as a whole and individual students. 

 

  1. Step one: Open your Blackboard

  1. Step Two: Select the Class You Want to Email

  1. Step Three: Go to the Home Page

  1. Step Four: Find the “Tool” Link

  1. Step Six: Scroll Down and Find “Send Email” Link

  1. Step Seven: Select The Group You Want to Email

All Users: Will email everyone within the class, including your professor

All Groups: If you Professor has assigned Groups, the All Groups, will email every group

All Teaching Assistant Users: Will email any Teaching Associates (Lab Assistants, Math Tutors, Lecture Assistants)

All Student Users: Will email all students within the class

All Instructor Users: Will email the instructor assigned to the course

Select Users: Will email the specific Student or Instructor you are trying to email

Select Groups: Will allow you to select Groups that you would like to email
 

  1. Step Eight: Write Your Email

  • Make sure to fill in the subject like

    • The subject line should state the purpose of your email

  • Write in the body of the email

    • The body of the email, will explain what you are asking or why you are emailing in detail

  • Click “Submit” or “Cancel”

    • “Submit” will send the email to group you have chosen 

    • “Cancel” will cancel the email you have written and will take you back to the select group page to select a different group to email
