Finding the Calendar
The calendar can be found under tools on the initial Blackboard page. The tools box is located on the left side of the screen.
The calendar interface takes the form of a standard calendar app. This look can be changed in the circled area, in the box to the left of the calendar. You can choose a monthly view, a weekly view, or a daily view.
To the right, is the calendar. The monthly option has been selected, and the arrow keys above the calendar, in the left corner, switch between entire months.
Selecting the middle calendar changes it to a weekly display, with each day in a column and with each hour as a row for daily planning by hour.
Selecting the first calendar only shows events for the highlighted day by hour. No other days and scheduled events are visible.
The monthly calendar is visible, so that you can see an overview of the month by day and number. In addition, you can skip to previous or later months, by clicking the arrows in the left corner above the main calendar.
All classes from previous and current academic terms are seen here to the left of the calendar. Clicking a checkmark allows you to see notifications from that class. Conversely, clicking off the checkmark will hide notifications from that class. This works well if you do not want to see notifications for prior classes.
If the instructor has enabled notifications to sync to calendar, assignments and due dates are placed on the date they are due. This helps you keep track of assignments to plan your time appropriately.
Clicking on the notification gives you more details of the assignment, including a link to the assignment page, and the due date.
This works for all types of assignments (viz., discussions, traditional assignments, tests, etc.).
