Syncing Exchange - Android

Android 5.x and later

  1. From the Applications menu, navigate to the Accounts area, and select Add Account. Choose either Exchange, Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, or Corporate.

Your mail app may be located in a vendor folder such as Samsung or Motorola. If so, launch the mail app from there. If you are not prompted to add an account automatically, click Add Account. If prompted to choose an account type, select either Exchange, Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, or Corporate.

  1. Enter your MyCoyoteId@csusb.edu and password, and then tap Next.
  2. The "Activate device administrator?" window will appear, detailing the operations the Email app can perform remotely in case of security concerns, including:
    • Erase all data
    • Set password rules
    • Monitor screen-unlock attempts
    • Lock the screen
    • Set lock-screen password expiration
    • Set storage encryption
    • Disable cameras

You must allow these security precautions in order to proceed; tap Activate.

These security policies are available for Android, but are not currently being enforced by Exchange.

  1. To set up your sync options, select Email, Contacts, Calendar, and other preferences as desired. Tap Next.
  2. A message will tell you that your account is set up. Enter a name for your account, if you wish; you may also leave the default name. Tap Done.

Android 4.x

  1. From the Applications menu, navigate to the Accounts area, and select Add Account. Choose either Exchange, Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, or Corporate.

  1. The "Remote security administration" window will appear with the following message:

The server eas.exchange.iu.edu requires that you allow it to remotely control some security features of your Android device. Do you want to finish setting up this account?

To proceed with configuring your email, tap OK.

  1. To set up your sync options, select Email, Contacts, Calendar, and any other sync preferences. If this is your primary email account, check Send email from this account by default. Tap Next.

Android 2.3 and earlier

  1. From the Applications menu, select Settings > Accounts & sync > Add Account > Exchange (or Corporate).
  2. If your device gives you the option, choose Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.
  3. Enter your MyCoyoteID@csusb.edu and password. If this is your primary email account, check Send email from this account by default.
  4. To set up your sync options, select Email, Contacts, Calendar, and any other sync preferences.
  5. Tap Save & Sync.
