Federal Work-Study

Program Description

Work-Study is a federally funded program that provides job opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students who are eligible to participate in need based financial aid programs. Work-Study student workers will be placed in various departments on and off campus to help offset a portion of their educational expenses. Work-Study at CSUSB provides opportunities for students to secure academic or career-related jobs, and develop job skills. Students may also apply to participate in the America Reads and Counts programs as a tutor in local school districts or agencies. Interested students may apply by completing a separate application to be considered for this program: Salaries range from $10.50 to $17.78 per hour. Student workers may work a maximum of 20 hours per week.

Work-Study participants should approach their job assignment with a sense of responsibility that would be expected in any job. To be considered for the Work-Study programs, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and indicate on the FAFSA your interest in part-time employment as part of your financial aid. Apply FAFSA. Eligible students will be instructed to contact the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships to verify eligibility and secure the Work Authorization and Terms of Employment prior to employment.

Work Study participants and their Supervisors are required to complete a tutorial and submit a Student/Supervisor Performance Evaluation once a year.
