The National Science Foundation (NSF) reported that only 2% of Latinas held science and engineering positions in 2015. According to a 2017 report from the National Center for Women and Information Technology, Latinas made up only 1% of the computing workforce. The same report found that women hold 24% of STEM jobs in the U.S. These statistics and the need for change inspired Janette Flores to explore the impact of increasing minority women representation in the Technology field. As a Latina who works in IT, Janette shares her first-hand experiences and the steps she took to further explore this issue in hopes of inspiring others to make a difference.
