World Affairs Council

California State University San Bernardino’s slogan “Come Here, Go Anywhere” means our students will be ready to engage effectively in today’s globally interdependent society…economically, technologically, culturally, and politically. The World Affairs Council of Inland Southern California joins many other international programs on campus to help make that goal a reality. The Council brings enriched international experiences, discussion on issues of global concern, and a chance to meet and learn from political leaders, journalists, scholars, NGOs, business executives and change agents from many countries and here on our own campus.

The World Affairs Councils organization is the largest non-profit grassroots program in the United States dedicated to educating and engaging Americans on global issues. Non partisan and non profit, World Affairs Councils offer multiple points of view in their resource materials and presentations. This standard was set when the first program was founded in New York in the early 20th century. Now there are nearly 100 World Affairs Councils in cities, colleges, and universities across the United States. A national association of most of these councils, called the World Affairs Councils of America, is located in Washington DC and provides access to diplomatic level travel, speakers, and grants for program development to local Councils

The World Affairs Council of Inland Southern California (WACISC) began operation in the 1964 in Riverside in partnership with twelve universities including CSU San Bernardino which was just opening its doors at the time. To enhance recognition of and outreach for its excellent international leadership and programs, in the late spring of 2014, an office of WACISC was formed at California State University San Bernardino and is housed in the College of Social And Behavioral Sciences.

Students, faculty, and community members from the entire Inland Southern California region are invited to participate in World Affairs Council events at all of program locations. All programs will be advertised to members and those who express an interest by joining the electronic mailing list (on the homepage).
