Become a Tutor

If you are an outstanding CSBS student, you may have what it takes to be a Writing Lab tutor.

Qualified applicants will have:

  • Strong writing and interpersonal skills

  • Knowledge of APA and/or Chicago citation style

  • Successful completion of SSCI 306: Expository Writing or equivalent

  • A GPA of 3.00 or higher

  • Responsibility and maturity

  • A major in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences

Tutoring positions pay $14/hour for undergraduates and $16.50/hour for graduate students, and students may work up to 20 hours/week (as with any student employment on campus).  Preference will be given to applicants who can work 10 hours or more per week. 

To apply: Download, print, and fill out the application.  You must also provide a copy of your résumé or CV and at least one sample paper that demonstrates your ability to write in the Social Sciences.  A clean copy of a research paper previously submitted in one of your CSBS courses is preferred.  Leave your application packet in Dr. Barta's mailbox in SB-207.
