FAQ

Individuals

What should I wear?

Many volunteers are planting, gardening and painting, so please wear clothes that can get dirty and closed toe shoes – no open toed shoes allowed! You will be outside, so please wear a hat and/or wear sunscreen.  Please wear your hair up if you have long hair and leave your jewelry at home. Please don't wear clothes that are revealing, including short shorts. Keep it classy, Coyotes!

What if I can’t attend?

We understand that last-minute circumstances happen.  If you have registered and can't attend, please notify the Office of Community Engagement of your cancellation at leaveyourpawprint@csusb.edu no later than Monday, April 13, 2020.

What project site will I be working at?

Volunteers will not be notified of site placement until the day of the event at check-in. Please indicate if special accommodations are needed when you register.

Can I invite my non-CSUSB friends and family?

This event is only open to current students and employees. However, we are co-hosting a 5K event on-campus with C.A.S.A of San Bernardino on the same day – April 25, 2020. The C.A.S.A. 5K fun run/walk is open to campus and the community – you can spend the morning with family and friends while raising funds to help local foster youth! There will be a children’s fun zone, music, Earth Day booths and free In-N-Out for the first 300 registrants. There is a registration fee, with all proceeds supporting the programs of this important nonprofit agency.

What if I can only volunteer for part of Saturday morning?

We do require that a volunteer stay the entire volunteer portion of the morning. Transportation is provided, and taking your own vehicle is not an option. If you are unable to commit from 7:00 am to 12:30 pm you may want to consider participating in the C.A.S.A. 5K Run/Walk taking place on-campus on the same day. Visit our website https://bit.ly/coyotecaresday for more information.

When does the event end?

Volunteers are expected to return to campus from their project sites around noon. You are free to leave at that point, but you will miss our fun celebration for volunteers featuring food trucks, OCE swag, activities and live entertainment – why not stay and enjoy the fun!

Groups

How do I register my group?

Please select a team leader who will register each team member’s first and last name, coyote ID# and email address. Once registration has been submitted the team leader will receive a confirmation with additional instructions such as the team member waiver form. The form must be completed by all registered team members in order for group registration to be completed. There is a maximum of 20 members per team.

Can I add members to a group?

Once the registration form has been submitted, the group is finalized. We advise team leaders to make sure you have everyone listed prior to submitting your registration. If the team leader forgot to add someone, they will need to register as an individual.

I can’t find my organization name listed on the registration form?

If you can’t find your organization listed, please indicate OTHER in all three sections (category, type, name) and write in your organization/team name in the text box. Once you have submitted your registration, please remember to indicate to the rest of your team members that you indicated OTHER in all three section and how you wrote the name in the text box. They will need to do the same thing in order to ensure you are grouped together.

What if I am not a part of a club or organization?

You can participate and register for Coyote Cares Day as an individual. This is a great way to network with other students, staff, and faculty who share a commitment to service!

What if we would like to continue volunteering as a group after Coyote Cares Day?

That’s great! Subscribe to our electronic newsletter and stay up to date with volunteering opportunities.

Community Partners

What do I need to supply?

The answer depends on your project site needs. Do you have the necessary supplies already and just need the helping hands of volunteers to make the project happen? If so, then please  make sure on the day of the event you have someone from your organization ready to meet the volunteers, go over the project details and provide an overview your organization’s mission.  If you have a project in mind but do not have the supplies, please provide a supplies request when you register and OCE will contact you directly.

Can I attend the after party?

Yes! Community partners are welcome to join the celebration. Please email leaveyourpawprint@csusb.edu so we can make proper accommodations!
