Family Involvement
We believe that, as parents, you are the primary educators of your children. We respect your input and value your suggestions and observations. The relationship between the teachers and families is based on a common concern for the well-being of the child. It is our function as teachers to support and facilitate the development and education of your children. Because you are the expert when it comes to knowing your child, we appreciate your perceptions, feelings, and knowledge about your child. We encourage you to become actively involved in your child’s education.
Each head teacher organizes activities that allow for parent participation in the classroom. These may include: visits at the start of the school year, family activities in the classroom, informal daily contact, or special family days.
We urge you to volunteer in whatever capacity you feel is appropriate for you. Volunteer possibilities include: helping with class outings/school events, sharing special activities with the children (e.g., music, art, cooking), cleaning the classroom or playground, sanitizing toys, and/or collecting classroom resources. Pease advise the teachers about the hours you would like to volunteer so that your volunteer time can be efficiently managed.
