Community-University Partnerships

Community-University Partnerships – also know as CUP – is a program designed to apply university resources to advance the quality of life and health in San Bernardino and Riverside counties. CUP also provides assistance for community-based research projects and directs a Service Learning Fellowship Program. Service learning fellowships are credit-bearing educational activities in which students participate in organized service that meets community needs. Their service, often to schools or community organizations, increases their understanding and application of the course content and enhances their sense of civic responsibility. The CUP approach can foster reciprocal use of learning from community to student, and from student to community.

Chasing Arrows
Chasing Arrows

In celebration of Earth Day, Cal State San Bernardino encouraged chasing arrows with the creation of a “human recycling triangle” symbol on the lawn of the university’s Pfau Library. Darleen Stoner, professor of environmental education, set up the design and more than 100 students, faculty and staff filled it in, while campus photographers shot the image from the top of the library.
