CSUSB's Veterans Success Center (VSC) opened its doors on May 25, 2012. It is a 1,500 square foot facility, which houses eight computer stations where student veterans and military members can work on assignments, and a group room for students to congregate between classes and hold study groups. The center offers dynamic programs that are comprehensive in scope and sensitive to the unique needs of service members, which includes: new student veterans' orientation; a monthly seminar series; weekly mental health support group; science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) tutoring; SALUTE Veterans National Honor Society; veterans’ graduation celebration; complementary printing; free test taking materials; advocacy and referral services; refrigerator and
microwave; complimentary arts and crafts; and a military veterans
writers group.

 

Recently, CSUSB was ranked as a top four-year college by Military Times, "Best for Vets: Colleges 2019" and as the top public university in the state for services it offers to military personnel and veterans, according to Military Advanced Education's 2018 Guide and was named by G.I. Jobs magazine as a Military Friendly School, placing CSUSB in the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the nation working with veterans. The VSC’s knowledgeable staff is available to provide guidance and resources.

Vision

As part of the Division of Student Affairs, California State University, San Bernardino's VSC demonstrates the university's commitment to being one of the nation's top military friendly schools by providing high quality support services to military veterans, service members, dependents and stakeholders. Moreover, the VSC will become a center of excellence for the Inland Empire by offering leadership opportunities and innovative education programs to the target population.

Mission

The Veterans Success Center supports former, current, and future service members of the United States Armed Forces and their dependents with the transition from higher education to career, navigation through their academic experience, and celebration of their service and achievements by offering high-quality support services, resources, and events.
