Administrative Council Minutes                                                        March 23, 2009

  1. Informational Handouts:  President Karnig discussed the following:

 

PowerPoint presentation from CSU on Gift Commitments from various CSU Campuses from 06/07 thru 08/09.

 

A March 18 article from CSU Daily News Clips entitled “College Study Finds Two-Tear ‘Penalty.’”

 

A March 18 article from CSU Daily News Clips entitled “State Fiscal Leaders Skeptical Stimulus Funds Will Avert Cutbacks.”

 

A March 18 article from CSU Daily News Clips entitled “Deficit at CSUF May Force Deep Cuts.”

 

A March 20 article from The Seattle Times entitled “Gov. Greoire Seeks Higher-Ed Surcharge.”

 

A March 20 article from the Ruston Leader entitled “Jindal’s College Plan Cuts $219M.”

 

 

  1. Petrie Exhibit Report:  Eva Kirch reported that the Petrie Exibit was very well visited.  She distributed a report highlighting the increased activity at the museum during the exhibition of this very special collection.  The museum generated revenue, and a profit, from the variety of groups which visited the museum during the Petrie Exhibit.

 

  1. Fiscal Efficiency Programs:  Robert Gardner commented that he didn’t receive any feedback on the revised changes to the Fiscal Efficiency Program. 

President Karnig requested that Robert Gardner recirculate the revised policy for comments and feedback, and then bring back to the next Administrative Council Meeting for review.

 

 

Announcements

 

Tony Simpson – Reported on Energy Conservation and discussed the university’s goal to reduce consumption.  He encouraged the university not to schedule events Fridays during summer hours in order to keep the costs of energy down.  He also discussed the campus electrical load and emphasized on the need to conserve energy.

 

Karen Bowerman – Distributed an invitation handout for the 2009 Arrowhead Distinguished Executive Award Event Honoring John Husing, Ph.D. at CSU on May 1, 2009 at the Obershaw Dining Room.

 

Bob McGowan – Provided an update on the current registration report. He gave an update on the admission status for Fall.

 

Robert Gardner – Gave an update on the status on the roofing project at University Hall.
