Moderate-Severe Intern Credential/Getting Started

 

Thank you for your interest in the Moderate/Severe Disabilities Intern Program. You can download the program application from the links above. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • CBEST
  • BA or BS
  • Subject Matter Competency
    - Passing score(s) on subject matter examination
    (Must have if applying for program after June 30, 2004)
  • U.S. Constitution Course, passage of a college-level U.S. Constitution examination or approved substitution.

 

       Prerequiste Courses (must be taken prior to teaching on an Intern credential).

  • ESPE 529 - Introductory Methods for Special Education: Interns
  • ESPE 530 - Psychology and Education of Individuals with Disabilties

 

Subject matter competency must be met before beginning the Moderate/Severe Disabilities Intern Program. If you have not completed a California approved subject matter program or passed the appropriate examination(s), it will be necessary for you to either pass the appropriate examination(s) or have your transcripts evaluated for equivalency of a California-approved subject matter program. Subject matter competency has been met if you hold a California Multiple/Single credential and subject matter competency has been recorded by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC). Please note all candidates who successfully finish the 5 quarter program will earn an Education Specialist Moderate/Severe Disabilities Intern Program . In addition, only four additional courses and a culminating project/exam will be needed for the Master’s Degree in Education, Special Education Option.

Please return your application as soon as possible. You will be called for an interview if you meet the program requirements. Do not interview with school districts as a representative of the CSUSB Moderate/Severe Credential/CLAD Intern Program before you receive conditional acceptance into the Program.
