Early Childhood Level II with EL Authorization/Credential


In addition to the program admission requirements and credential course work, the candidate must successfully complete the following requirements in order to be recommended for the Professional Clear Level II Education Specialist Instruction Credential:

  • One of the following to fulfill the health education requirement (with a grade of "C" or better):

    HSCI 540. School Health Programs and Practices (4)

  • Verification of current and valid CPR certification for infants/adolescents/adults

  • Fulfill the computer literacy requirement (with a grade of "B-" or better):

    ETEC 537. Introduction to Computer Technology in Education (2)
    and
    ETEC 546. Computer Based Technology in Education (4) 

  • A grade point average of 3.0 (“B”) in professional education course work, with no course grade lower than a “B-”

  • Verification of a minimum of two years of successful full-time teaching experience while holding the Preliminary Level I Education Specialist Instruction Credential

The State of California requires students to enroll in the Professional Clear Level II Education Specialist Instruction Credential program within 120 working days of completion of the preliminary credential program requirements and issuance of the Preliminary Level I Education Specialist Instruction Credential. Within five (5) years of issuance of the preliminary credential, students must complete the Level II Education Specialist Program requirements and verify a minimum of two years of successful full-time teaching while holding the Preliminary Level I Education Specialist Instruction Credential in order to obtain the Professional Clear Level II Education Specialist Instruction Credential.
