Early Childhood Level II Credential with EL Authorization/Coursework
The level II credential program is the period of induction for those wishing to clear their Education Specialist credential. There are four requirements for clearing the preliminary Education Specialist Instruction credential in Early Childhood:
- a minimum of two years and a maximum of five years teaching in an Early Childhood Special Education setting with the preliminary Education Specialist Instruction credential in Early Childhood (time teaching with an intern credential, emergency permit, substitute teaching permit, or on another credential does not count toward this requirement);
- development, implementation, and evaluation of an Individualized Induction Plan (IIP) (implementation must be for a minimum of 2 years and a maximum of 5 years);
- completion of the university level II coursework requirements; and
- completion of the CCTC requirements for a clear credential
In order to assist candidates in compliance with these requirements, ESPE 633 is the course in which students develop their IIP and plan for their induction; therefore this is the first course that must be completed in the level II sequence. ESPE 694A is the course in which candidates document and evaluate the implementation of their IIP; therefore this course must be taken last and no less than one quarter short of their second anniversary of teaching on their preliminary Education Specialist Instruction credential in Early Childhood.
