Mission Statement

The Mission of the College of Education

The Mission of the College of Education at California State University, San Bernardino is to prepare education and human service professionals through the development of curriculum and programs that transform individuals and the community.   This collaborative process, involving faculty, staff and students (K-14) and the community-at-large, reflects our core beliefs in diversity, quality-oriented teaching/learning community, and leadership-for-change.

To this end, all basic multiple subject and single subject credential programs stress language acquisition and multicultural education and foster an inherent respect and appreciation for diverse identities.   All multiple and single subject candidates obtain a credential that enables them to teach English Language Learners within the regular classroom or a BCLAD (Bilingual Cross-cultural, Language and Academic Development) emphasis credential, or a Special Education basic credential. The basic multiple and single subject and BCLAD programs' requirements include coursework on the cultural contexts of schooling and curriculum adaptations for English Language Learners.
