Continuous Enrollment

Effective spring quarter 2007 all master's students must be continuously enrolled. Graduate students can no longer be absent from the University for two quarters without penalty. Students who are absent for one quarter or more and who have not filed a leave of absence will lose their status and be required to reapply to the University and the master's program.

Continuous enrollment includes students who are taking classes and those who have completed all coursework and are working on the thesis/project or preparing for the comprehensive exams. Students must enroll each quarter until all required courses and the project or thesis is accepted or the comprehensive examination passed (2006-07 University Bulletin, pages 329 and 332). Graduate students who have completed all course work maintain continuous enrollment by registering for the 698 course (Continuous Enrollment for Graduate Candidacy Standing).

Refer to the Leave of Absence Policy stated on the Graduate Studies Website.
