Admission Requirements

Earned baccalaureate and master's degrees in education or a related field from accredited institutions of higher education. A cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher in upper division and graduate study.

Demonstrated educational leadership and successful experiences in PreK-12 schools, postsecondary, and policy leadership.

Demonstrated academic excellence, problem-solving ability, technology proficiency, and interest in critically assessing and bringing about improvements in current educational policies and practices.

We will begin taking applications on October 1, 2009 for entry in Fall 2010. Completed applications will be reviewed when they are received and qualified applicants will be notified for interviews. Applications will be accepted through March 2010, or until all openings are filled. Applications are available online: http://www.csumentor.edu/. All students must submit a GRE score obtained within the past five years in advance of their application. The following application materials MUST be submitted to the CSUSB Office of Doctoral Studies to complete your application:

• An official copy of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores from the three sections of the General Test taken within the last five years (Total recommended score of 1000 or higher).
  
  
• A current Curriculum Vitae (CV) or Resume that includes a detailed list of current leadership experience, specific skills and accomplishments.
  
  
• Three confidential Letters of Recommendation from professionals in the field attesting to leadership and scholarship. ONE letter should be from a school or university administrator and at least ONE letter from a university faculty member addressing your potential for academic success in a doctoral program.
  
  
• Future Directions Essay (three to five pages). Address the challenges facing California public schools, make recommendations for change, and note your potential leadership involvement in the process.
  
  
• Program Plan Essay (three to five pages). Detail your plan to meet the demands of the program in addition to professional and personal responsibilities.

Once all application materials have been received, selected applicants will be contacted for an in-person interview.
