It will integrate existing community services, and serve as the site for new and exciting educational programs, cultural programs, innovations and opportunities.
The new College building with its lecture hall, classrooms, clinics and centers will allow us to serve the community as never before.Teacher education is critical to the mission of the California State University System. The CSU produces ten percent of all new teachers in the U.S. and approximately 60 percent of the teachers prepared in California. In just this past year over 2500 students prepared to become teachers, special educators, school administrators, curriculum specialists, or school counselors and psychologists. The vast majority of these graduates work in schools throughout the Inland Empire and the Low and the High Desert Communities. The College of Education is one of the top five educators of teachers in the CSU.
The story of the College is not simply about quantity. It is more importantly about the teacher quality, P-12 partnerships, and on-going new teach support. The College has national (National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education) and state accreditation (California Commission for Teacher Credentialing) for all of its programs.
The State of California has provided the basic funding for this new building including the bare essentials to furnish it. Enhancements including outfitting specialty clinics, centers, and lab equipment require additional private, corporate and foundation assistance. Thus I am pleased to announce our Tools for Education Campaign to engage your financial support to equip and develop the clinical, instructional and social spaces so vitally needed for this new building.
Thank you for your consideration in supporting our College.
Sincerely,
Patricia Arlin
