College of Education Advisory Councils

The College of Education values the collaborative relationships it has with school district representatives, community college representatives, and with those representing other groups of its service area.  In addition to advisory groups that counsel individual programs, the following College-sponsored councils serve multiple programs or the college as a whole.

Teacher Education Advisory Council

The CSU Teacher Education Advisory Council was established to promote communication across colleges and with K-12 schools for better understanding of the nature and importance of basic teacher education.  Member ship includes the following:

Membership

  • Associate Provost of Academic Programs (co-chair)
  • College of Education Dean (co-chair)
  • Directors of Multiple, Single, and Education Specialist Programs
  • College of Education Associate Deans
  • Arts and Letters Associate Dean
  • Natural Sciences Associate Dean
  • Social & Behavioral Sciences Associate Dean
  • Community College Representatives
  • K-12 Representatives

Multiple Subject Teacher Education Advisory Council

This council's purposes include communication, program articulation, and collaborative development and review of teacher credential and teacher subject matter prepartion programs.  Membership includes representatives from the university's liberal studies program faculty, the Director of Liberal Studies, K-8 schools, community colleges, the Director of the Multiple Subject Credential Programs, the Assistant Dean of Palm Desert Education Programs, the Co-Directors of the Intern Program, the Co-Director of the Pre-Intern Program, the Service Learning Coordinator, the Director of Credentials, and the Associate Dean of Teacher Education.

Single Subject Teacher Education Advisory Council

This council's purposes also include communication, program articulation, and collaborative development and review of teacher credential and teacher subject matter prepartion programs. Membership includes representatives from approved subject matter preparation program faculty, secondary schools, the Director of the Single Subject Credential Programs, the Assistant Dean of Palm Desert Education Programs, the Co-Directors of the Intern Program, the Co-Director of the Pre-Intern Program, the Director of Credentials, and the Associate Dean of Teacher Education
