Student Services Area

Welcome to the College’s new Student Services Area! As students, faculty, staff, and visitors enter the new College of Education’s main lobby; on their left they’ll immediately find one-stop-service for admission and completion of all of the College’s credential and degree programs.

The new building has provided us with the opportunity to design a service facility that will provide convenience to students while promoting communication and collaboration amongst the service area’s staff and faculty. The present inadequate facilities and limited space forced the College to split its many service offices which are so critical to efficient and high quality advisement. Students matriculating through degree or credential programs or other potential students wishing to receive information about the College’s programs have operated with no central office for many years. Duplication in record keeping and less than easy access to program information have been unfortunate results. The new facility remedies these difficulties through a variety of design features:

An information booth will quickly help identify students’ needs and direct them to the appropriate location within the Student Services Area. There will be no need for students to make a hike across campus to speak to an advisor or to access a different service office.
Student files will be used by all staff from admissions through program completion with no need for duplication or sending through on-campus mail.
Staff and program directors will have easy access to each other—promoting quick and frequent communication across service divisions.

The new Student Service Area will increase our ability to more effectively serve our students as we strive to meet our mission to help prepare teachers and other school professionals for the state of California. We know that our students need to move into and out of our programs as efficiently as possible in order to meet requirements for employment. Our school districts also depend upon us for accuracy and speed. With the new Student Services Area, the College of Education will be well on its way to providing one-stop service!
