Welcome to CSCE
In 1993, California State University, San Bernardino established the Center for the Study of Correctional Education. The Center provides services for veteran and aspiring teachers of academic, vocational, and social education and for correctional education administrators who work in local, state, federal and private institutions.
Please feel free to browse our website. For information on upcoming courses, the master's degree program, and inservice opportunities, visit our activities page. To access correctional education literature and information on the Core Library, browse our articles page. Other pages include historic correctional education photos and more. If you have requests for information not available on our website, please visit our contact page to ask for assistance. The Center houses the most complete collection of correctional education material in the world. We are happy to connect interested practitioners with the rich history and literature of our field.
The Center provides teacher preparation, research, and support services for correctional educators. The University community operates within CEA Region VII to promote networking among nearby correctional educators, teachers/students of correctional education, and faculty. The Occasional Speakers Program brings outside contributors to the area, through collaborations with countries such as Ireland and Norway. The best contemporary model for correctional education is based on the Council of Europe's Recommendations on Education in Prison. Take a look.
